Born and raised in the Seattle area, I earned my MFA from the School of the Arts at Columbia University. Over the last twenty years, I’ve worked as a copy editor, reporter, teacher, and book editor in both the private and non-profit sectors. I’ve lived in five different countries on three different continents, and every time zone of the continental US. I currently live in central New York with my husband, two teenagers, and two dogs.

As a writer, I’m drawn to the small moments that change lives, the contradictions that make us human, and the vast, messy beauty of living in this world. I love a well-written sentence that turns in unexpected ways, and I love a good story.

As an editor, I help writers bring to life the story they want to tell in the way they want to tell it.
